The floods come up...

So earlier in the year, there was a town meeting about what to do if our town floods. I thought it was weird since there was only a couple of feet of snow outside, but apparently that is a lot for this area. See, NE Montana doesn't usually get much snowfall. We just get cold and wind. This year, however, we had record snowfall (along with the cold and wind).  Combine that with a quick thaw and what do you get?

You get this. Thats not a lake. Its usually a field. If you look close you can see hay bails floating around. That ramp-like thing is a road and in the distance there are a few houses. This is a few blocks from my house.
We wont be going to the park anytime soon.

This isn't the best picture, but I had to post it. Look at this kiddo. Instead of playing catch or throwing the football around in his backyard, he is fishing in his newly installed pond. Wonder what you catch???

Luckily, there wasn't any damage to our house. It affected the country more than town. These pictures were taken about a week after the flooding really started, so its actually a lot better in these pictures than it was initially.

I asked a teen in my ward how her house was affected, beings she lives in the country. She said, "Well we have to use a boat to get to our house." I laughed. She wasn't kidding:)

Traveling fools

First off, I have to say that I think it was rather rude of my Mom and Jack to wait till AFTER I move away from home to build a pool room onto their house. However, its one more reason to go visit! Yep, Beckam and I took another visit to Idaho! Beckam loves bath time, so I was really excited to put him in  the pool to see what he thinks.

It took a while for him to warm up to the idea, but I think he liked it. As he gets older, Im sure the pool will be a hit.

Another hit on this trip.....Dad's dutch oven cooking. Beckam and I went to Dad and Becky's house to visit and they made us a VERY good dinner. I think if I had to choose one food to live off of it would be dutch oven potatoes, yum!!!

Sal met me later in the week and we went to Boise to visit. I miss Boise! HOPEFULLY we will live there again soon. In the meantime, we will just visit often!

Recap

The initial thought when starting a blog was to start in January. There is a website called Blurb that changes a blog into a book. How cool to have a journal/blog for the family for each year. That being said, I need to backtrack on the last couple of months because what eventful months they have been! As most moms know, life changes drastically (for the good, of course) in the first few months after having a baby. I have memories that I hope to always remember.

So here it goes….

JANUARY

This was Beckam’s first month of life. Three words to describe January would be love, bliss, and sleepless. He was such a good baby right from the start. HOWEVER, he was born with his nights and days mixed up (we will forgive him because he corrected this behavior within two weeksJ). I would try so hard not to talk to him at three in the morning, but he was so sweet just looking at me with his big, blue eyes. Beckam will grin as he is falling asleep. This is something he did from day one and still does. I love it.

Beckam 2 weeks old

We were able to take a much needed trip to Idaho towards the end of the month. The two highlights of this trip were Beckam’s baby blessing and Beckam’s baby shower.

Beckam after his blessing (January 23, 2011)

This is Beckam with some of his many Uncles. This kid definitely doesn't have a shortage of family.

Beckam's Grandma Debi threw a baby shower for him on the 22nd. What a fun day!

My mom is so creative, and it definitely showed. She had the whole place decorated for the party, which even included a candy bar! We played games, ate lunch, and chatted the afternoon away. Of course Beckam slept through the whole thing.J

FEBRUARY

This month consisted of yet another trip. We are definitely making Beckam a well traveled baby! Sal needed to take a trip to Southern California to take a licensing test. Well it just so happened it was only three hours from where my sister, Josie, and her family live. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to see them, so while Sal was hard at work studying, Beckam and I were hanging out with family.

Sal and I did get to spend some time together while we were there. We found a pretty cool beach in Ventura and stopped to walk around.

Best part of the trip was that Sal passed both of licensing test. Im so proud of how hard he works.

Other highlights for the month were Beckam's first smiles.

And the discovery of man's best friend. The 46 inch flat screen television. He is in LOVE with this thing. Here he is staring intently at the bright colors.

MARCH

This month was a month of staying home. We did, however, have visitors. First, some of Sal's brothers came up for a visit. It was so good to see them and have company. Our house is usually pretty quite, but not that weekend!

This was the weather during March, so needless to say, there wasn't much time spent outdoors. But they managed.

There was a lot of playing basketball and eating pizza.

The second visit was from my mom and little sister Hannah. There has been an increase in visits from these two since the birth of Beckam...wonder why??? We love having them over!

Despite the fact that he looks a little scared in this photo, Beckam loves his Aunt Hannah. She is so good to him, always talking and singing to him. She even gave him barbie dolls to play with when no one was lookingJ

So if you made it to the end of this rather long post, there is our recap. First of the year consisted of a lot of traveling, a lot of visiting, and a lot of fun!

Its time to start a blog

I’ve been putting this off for two years now, but with such a big family, a blog is a great way to keep everyone up to date on your life. So here it goes…blog attempt number two (the first attempt only lasted for two posts...oops).

First some background on us...

This is the hubby and I. We have been married for two and a half years. I feel so blessed to have married such a wonderful husband and father. Im a pretty lucky gal!

Sal and I moved to Montana almost two years ago. Not much to our little town, but if you look really, I mean REALLY hard, there is some good to itJ I cant say enough about the great people we have met here.

This was a picture of our first time driving into town.

Im almost sad to say that we plan on moving towards the end of this summer. A LOT has changed in our life since we moved here. We have formed many memories. Our biggest change was being blessed with a sweet, little Christmas baby. Beckam was born Christmas day 2010. What a birthday, huhJ

Poor little guy didn't cry, but the shocked look on his face was priceless. He weighed in at 7 lbs 11 oz and 19 1/2 inches long. Healthy as a horse.

He is the sweetest thing, always cheerful. He is keeping us quite entertained. This child doesn’t stop wiggling from sun up to sun down. Needless to say, as soon as he figures out how to crawl, Mom and Dad will have their hands full!

Speaking of hands full...we made two other additions to our family in the last couple of years.

Terror 1 and Terror 2...also known as Dax and Nollie:) We first got Dax in fall of 2009. I then decided he was lonely with Sal and I both working. So we bought him a friend named Nollie in spring of 2010. Life would not be the same without them.

This is our little, growing family. I love them more than words can say.
